OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss sophomore guard Terrico White has decided to hire an agent and remain in this year’s NBA Draft, head coach Andy Kennedy announced Wednesday evening. Ole Miss’ Nutt, Walls Compete In Successful Charity Golf Tournament

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt and former All-American tight end Wesley Walls combined to shoot 2-over par and earn $10,000 in scholarship donations at the Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament Tuesday. The Rebel twosome earned a 10th-place finish at the fourth annual event, hosted at Reynolds Plantation resort outside of Atlanta. Paul Apyan named First Team All-Conference USA

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss redshirt senior Paul Apyan was named to the Men’s Golf All-Conference USA First Team in a vote by the league’s 11 coaches announced today by the league office in Irving, Texas. It is the first all-conference selection for the Golden Eagles since Justin Elliott was named to the team in 2006, as well as the first first team selection since 2002. Apyan was one of two golfers to participate in at least 10 of 11 tournaments this year. He led the team with a 73.2 stroke average over 30 rounds. HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss shortstop B.A. Vollmuth was added to the Golden Spikes Award watch list announced today by USA Baseball officials. Since 1978, USA Baseball has honored the top amateur baseball player in the country with the Golden Spikes Award. The award is sponsored by Major League Baseball and presented each year to the player who best exhibits exceptional on-field ability and exemplary sportsmanship. MVSU Men’s Basketball Signs Two for 2010-2011

The Mississippi Valley State men’s basketball program announces its initial signees for the Class of 2010-2011. Coupled with the signees from last season, MVSU head coach Sean Woods is confident that he has compiled the personnel necessary for a run at a conference title. Falando Jones is a Greenwood native who just finished playing at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, Mississippi. Among the greatest honors that can be given to an athlete is to be recognized by their peers. On Saturday, April 10, 2010, eight of Mississippi Valley State University’s former athletes and coaches will be given that honor as they are inducted into the MVSU Hall of Fame. CONWAY, Ark. – Junior Michael Galatas was named 2010 SCAC Men’s Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Year for his outstanding efforts at the SCAC Championships over the weekend at Hendrix College. Galatas turned in a first place finish in both the 110 meter hurdles (15.63s) and the 200 meter dash (22.45s) to earn 20 team points for the Majors. In the relay events, Galatas helped Millsaps to a pair of second place finishes in the 4×100 and 4×400 relay. The banquet honored the athletes from Hinds who were able to achieve milestones both academically and athletically.
