Jackson, who was the head strength and conditioning coach at Hinds in 2009, is currently working for the Packers as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Jackson, a native of Columbus, also was a student athletic trainer at Hinds in 2000 when the Eagles went 11-1, won the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state championship and were ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation.

Jackson, who also served an internship with the Super Bowl-winning New England Patriots in their 2003 training camp, spent 2002-07 at the University of Alabama, with the highlight coming when the Crimson Tide made a trip to the Cotton Bowl at the end of the 2005 season.

“This year with the Packers has been a tremendous blessing,” Jackson said in a telephone interview as he was leaving Dallas/Fort Worth airport Monday morning Feb. 7. “It was an unbelievable experience to be a part of this championship run.”

Jackson graduated from Alabama in 2005, and he left to work for Kent Johnston, former University of Alabama strength and conditioning coach, at a private training facility in Waco, Texas, in 2007. He went from there back to Hinds Community College, this time as head strength and conditioning coach.

It was Johnston who then recommended Jackson for an opportunity to get in the Natiional Football League, which allowed him the chance to be a part of a Super Bowl winner.

Although he has now moved on to the highest level possible in football, Jackson said he will always be grateful for his time spent in Raymond.

“I’m thankful to (athletic director/head football coach) Gene Murphy and (former head trainer) Brian Johnson for giving me the opportunity to get in to college athletics,” Jackson said.
